HI THERE, DREAMER!
I’m Kat Edmonson, a starry-eyed songwriter and singer.
I’d like to send you a copy of my album Old Fashioned Gal for just the cost of shipping ($5).
THE ALBUM IS A COLLECTION OF ORIGINAL SONGS…
that has been described by The Associated Press as “sounding like an alternate soundtrack to an Audrey Hepburn film”.
"an absolute wonder, and feels like it's a ready-to-go Broadway play of classic songs set in our semi-new century... Kat Edmonson is a new-fashioned hero shining illuminative beams of truth and power. Do not miss." - The Morton Report

MAYBE YOU’VE HEARD OF ME!
I’ve been recording and touring for fifteen years. I have six albums (on both major and independent labels). I’ve opened for music icons such as Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson, and Gary Clark, Jr. (to name a few), played Carnegie Hall (twice), and have been featured on Austin City Limits, NPR’s Tiny Desk, and CBS Saturday Morning. I appeared in the Woody Allen film "Cafe Society" and made my theatrical debut in the Drama-Desk-Award-winning off-Broadway show, “The Hang”.
WE ALL START SOMEWHERE
I grew up in Houston, TX with a single mom who loved to sing along with the radio around the house. As she sang, I noticed that she sounded just as good as the voices coming through the airwaves! I listened intently and practiced singing like her. Meanwhile, while riding a school bus one day, I made up a song of my own which I sang to some of the kids on the school playground. They were impressed and from then on I was hooked on writing songs.
When I was 19, I auditioned for the second season of American Idol. I didn’t win but I made it to Hollywood and the top 50. I went back to Texas and began performing at open mic nights in Austin. Soon, I started getting hired and became a full-blown professional, performing every night of the week.
When I finally pulled together the resources I needed to make my first album, I took that music door to door, from newspaper office to radio station, eager to get heard. Now, I’m trying new ways to share my music…
OPENING DOORS
Eventually, knocking on doors led to working with a bigtime manager; getting that major label deal; touring nationally and internationally; and getting my songs in movies, on TV, and in commercials! My song “If” from this album was featured in the Netflix show "Russian Doll".
THESE ARE THE SONGS FROM MY HEART
People ask me when I know a song is done. For me, it’s done when I feel that it’s TRUE.
For “Old Fashioned Gal”, I wrote to find comfort. I was going through a really tough time and I was finding escape by watching Golden Age of Cinema movies. As I watched all those old Hollywood stories, I wrote my own story about a girl who goes to the big city to find fame and fortune only to be rejected but eventually finds salvation in her music and the will to carry on.
These songs are the music I wrote to go with that story.
THESE DAYS
These days I run my own independent label. I live in upstate NY where I moved Summer of 2020.
I was in the middle of a 40-city tour promoting a new album when the pandemic struck. Three weeks into the shut-down, I began streaming a weekly variety show called "The Kat Edmonson Show". My audience (who called themselves “The Dreamers”) and I talked, laughed and cried together every Sunday night for an hour and a half for 67 weeks.
When things went back to normal, I started touring again and making records. I was thrilled to go back out on the road but I had learned something valuable during the time at home: The most fulfilling part of being an artist for me is connecting with other dreamers like you.
HOW COME IT’S FREE?
I’m amazed that I’ve been able to make a living making music and I want to keep growing and going! I’m grateful that I can carry on as an independent artist, reaching fans one by one, and sharing a little bit of hope. My hope is that you will hear this and it will inspire you in whatever you are doing. From there, who knows what good things can happen?! Nothing happens unless you try. That’s why I want to...
