WHEN YOU WISH UPON A STAR – Best Arrangement, Instruments & Vocal

Dreamers Do tells a story for those who dream of a different path in life.

A question gets raised in Kat’s vulnerable original, “Too Late to Dream”:

“Are the messages we receive about following our dreams as children relevant through our adult life?”

The album explores the shared human struggle with daring to dream, illuminating a range of emotional and psychological consequences along the way.

Dreamers Do is comprised of fourteen songs, plus interludes. Kat has re-imagined twelve songs from the mid-twentieth century, ten of them Disney songs. She also includes two well-placed originals. The story of Dreamers Do takes place over the course of one, sleepless night.

THE AGE OF NOT BELIEVING (feat. BILL FRISELL) – Best Pop/Group Performance

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Bewitching songcycle from a masterful vocalist

Every track shines here… Edmonson’s delivery is delicate and tender, her material a beautiful bouquet filled with starry skies and happy endings

Her most ambitiously conceived and perfectly realized record so far

Torqued reworkings like the smoky Arabic rhythm of When You Wish Upon a Star are stunning

In a World of My Own…[is] a collaboration with the sublime vocal trio Duchess that sounds both vintage and timeless

She’s really got this special presence… her music is like fairy dust.  It has this magical… timeless quality to it that it just instantly makes you feel good and settled and childlike, but the good part, where your imagination is still pure.

NPR’s Song Confessional

An oasis of hope, excitement, and optimism

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Brimming with melody and psychologic depth

A salve for these unhinged times

Unfailingly sophisticated

Paul Simon would approve of the exotic instrumentation

This is an album to get lost in, to take the journey, sentimental and intellectual

A seductive sojourn that ultimately lulls and surprises

Makes one want to see Kat Edmonson star in a film

Even a more traditional singer such as Kat Edmonson creatively arranges her originals and covers of mid-‘60s movie tunes to break free of older regimented styles and yet remains connected to the tradition. Edmonson, whose old-fashioned pop would work seamlessly with the soundtrack of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” debuted songs from her upcoming album Dreamers Do
